6 Things to Do With Your Dog in 2017

As we leave 2016 behind and roll into 2017, many people are taking a few minutes to set new priorities for the coming year. Why not include your canine pal in your resolutions? After all, Fido will stay loyally by your side in the new year. Read on as a Glendale, AZ vet lists some things to put on your bucket list for 2017.

It’s always good to stretch your boundaries a bit, and go somewhere new. Fido definitely has a taste for adventure, and often really likes sniffing new, unfamiliar patches of grass. Take your furry pal on a different walking route, or explore a new trail with him this year.

Learn Something New

All of our canine friends should know basic doggy obedience commands, like Sit, Stay, Come, Heel, and Lay Down. If Fido has these mastered, why not have some fun with him and teach him some cute tricks? You can also teach your pooch some helpful commands, like Leave It.

Take Pictures

Get some great pictures of your canine companion this year. Experiment with different angles and effects, and capture your furry best friend just being his adorable self.

Visit The Vet

This one may not make Fido’s wish list, but it’s very important. Regular exams, microchipping, parasite control, and vaccinations are all crucial to your pup’s health. If your four-legged buddy hasn’t been fixed yet, we strongly recommend getting this done as soon as possible. It’s also important to watch for potential signs of illness, and contact your vet right away if you notice anything unusual. Ask your vet to recommend an appointment schedule.

Many people are very busy these days, juggling careers, child care, hobbies, household chores, and social activities. Take time to relax and unwind with your canine buddy in 2017.

Dogs are absolutely adorable when they are feeling playful. Make sure your furry buddy has plenty of fun toys to amuse himself with when you are away. We also recommend spending a few minutes every day tossing your pet’s favorite toy to him, or holding a laser pointer so he can chase that pesky red dot. These fun play sessions will be great for both you and Fido!
